It's back to East London again for UK exports: 'The London Police,' for their first solo art show in England since 2009.
This time around, the Amsterdam based lads have themed their show around sports and games... And although they have totally mistimed their sterling effort of jumping on the Olympic bandwagon, the Essex born duo have produced a slick show of considered artworks and designer sport products.
Alongside canvas originals, TLP has produced an exclusive range of limited edition, designer pool cues and hand drawn cricket bats. The games theme continues with a unique painted vintage Monopoly board and photography from TLP's city-wide Monopoly Street Art installations in London.

Joram Roukes is a Netherlands based artist, living and working in the city of Groningen.
For his upcoming show at StolenSpace Gallery titled 'Les bons Sauvages', Roukes has made a body of work that touches the subject of folklore and tradition, placing human/animal figures in situations ranging from western folkloric festivities to common customs and behavior in a context or environment touching both dream and reality, nature and nurture. Les Bons Sauvages is a reference to the crevice between the latter and can be seen as a common, reoccurring theme in the recent work of Roukes.

Come One, Come All - StolenSpace Gallery Presents the Christmas Event of the Season.

This Winter, StolenSpace presents 'Deck The Walls', a Christmas Group Show celebrating the art of the Greetings Card. The show will be unveiled for the first time on Thursday 6th December, and will open with an exclusive evening of festive folly. Featuring brand-new originals from the likes of D*Face, David Bray, Will Barras, Word to Mother, and many, many more, this is a must-see showcase from some of the most exciting artists on the scene.

'Deck The Walls' is a celebration of the Greetings Card in all its splendour. From the time they arrived in London in 1843, Greetings Cards have been an overlooked artform, and have changed drastically in nature. The early Egyptians used papyrus scrolls; we use Moonpig and horrific family photos.

The show's original pieces will include reworked vintage designs, religious and holy depictions, and newly imagined traditional scenes. Using a range of different media, our artists share their unique Christmas vision with canvas, wood, paper, and collage.

Solo Show By Arth Daniels Self taught, Brit artist Arth Daniels isn't quite what you'd expect from a portrait artist. Having exhibited in some of the UK's leading portrait galleries including the National Portrait Gallery throughout his early career his personal work is anything but traditional.
In 2007 Arth made it his personal goal to shift away from the generalised associations of portraiture, and to produce work that is honest, colourful and contemporary. Painted from a mix of both live subjects and multimedia assemblage his work is an ode to portraitures ability to capture the expression, character and form of the subject without explicit use of the human face alone.
Inspired by Cinema, Make-up artistry and Visual F/X Arth's body of work knowingly utilises his studies in photorealism to portray the grandeur of facial expression, identity and form whilst incorporating elements of humour along the way.

This exhibition reveals Scott Campbell’s appetite for patent imagery continues his repute, but it also signals a new direction. He suspends carvings of nearly photographic lunar landscapes, defaced with scat, in dense pours of resin. The result of this process manifests as wall hanging objects that accurately depict the moon’s natural phases, yet each one marred with anonymous gestures and scrawling. As with much of Campbell’s work, he achieves a tangible balance in the aesthetic spectrum through merging opposite ends.

In December 2010 a group of artists got together to embark on a project painting London's skyline, with the aim of inspiring people and reminding them of their voice. At a time where communities across the country feel increasingly neglected and let down by the system they decided to use the roofs of the many council blocks scattered across the city as a platform to communicate with people in the form of painted eyes and up-lifting slogans that beamed down on to the streets below.

Their work was to serve as a reminder to the public that they still have control over their surroundings and although we live in the most surveyed city on the planet, where peoples liberties are often compromised for financial gain and control, there is still room to take risks, think outside the box and change the world around you.

Doping Thrower is an art installation devised and executed by Fabrica’s artist Erik Ravelo. The sculpture was inspired by the Discobolus, the famous statue by Myron, from around 445 B.C., which is a symbol of the passion for the Olympic Games and of the cult of human physical perfection. The Doping Thrower is smothered in hundreds of multicolour capsules, phials and tablets and even a drip feed. It invites us to reflect on the habit of using and abusing drug-based substances and treatments to improve an athlete’s performance by artificial means. It should also be seen as a criticism of the anti-doping system which often, in the name of economic power, does fully not safeguard the health of athletes.

This spring, while the world’s media watched North Korea’s attempt to launch a rocket into space fizzle and fall to earth, 15 students from the London School of Economics (LSE) toured the country for a research trip. North Korea: 1984 on earth is a rare opportunity to see photographs of the capital, countryside, farms, hospitals, and other aspects of North Korean society. Besides viewing photographs, visitors will also get to watch secretly filmed footage including state television propaganda and view copies of The Pyongyang Times and the North Korean currency (won) that the students managed to smuggle out.

Exhibition of new art works by Japanese artist Usugrow featuring originals, prints and an exclusive vinyl figure release.

Usugrow started drawing in 1993 by creating punk rock flyers. Now, as well as still being hugely successful as a commercial designer for album covers, fashion brands & skate companies, the Japanese-born artist has been exhibiting his fine art in galleries all over the world and his black and white illustrations have become instantly recognizable. Heavily influenced by Los Angeles 'Cholo' style graffiti fused with the spiritual skills of Asian calligraphy. In his work he very often beautifully portrays opposing elements such as delicate lines and unique lettering style, skulls and flowers, yin and yang and of course his palette of black and white. He believes that this is everyday life and living proof that these opposing elements can exist together.

'Contingent' is an exhibition of the work of photography students from Plymouth College of Art. An eclectic mix of photography ranging from images produced with a giant handmade glass plate camera to 'camera-less' photography. Every space and image is the culmination of ideas and realisation of sustained research and practical image-making. Get in training for Shrove Tuesday and join in the Great Spitalfields Pancake Race. All you need to get together is a team of four people suitably dressed up (or down) to enter in the relay race. Bring your own frying pan and we'll provide the pancakes. The race will be run along Dray Walk at The Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane and all you have to do is toss the pancake a couple of times en route.
The heats will start at 12.30pm followed by the finals and the prize giving. The winners will receive a beautifully engraved - you've guessed it - frying pan! The best dressed team will also receive a prize. And there will be prizes for runners up and scrumptious pancakes for all entrants.

‘Shoes for Show: The Sculptural Art of High Heels’ exhibits one-off high heels were made to be appreciated for their beauty and not function. Split into three sections, ‘Shoes for Show’, exhibits heels for the catwalk, shoes for couture clients and innovative design in footwear.
The pieces when placed in three commissioned sculptures by artist Jamie Bowler are to be looked at as pieces of artwork.

The AOP Open is run by the Association of Photographers and is the only competition where professionals and amateurs compete on equal terms. In Bloom: The Nirvana Nevermind Exhibition, looks at the music and history of the Seattle grunge luminaries and highlights the unique relationship this most influential of bands enjoyed with their UK fans.

In 1968 Dick Proenneke (1916-2003) retired to the mountains of Alaska, to live in a log cabin he built himself, using only hand tools and trees cut from the surrounding forest. This exhibition explores this desire to find another more fundamental way to live, seeing it as an act of self-sufficiency rather than a romantic ideal. It looks at the role of solitude in one’s life and how the physical act of doing something can create a world to inhabit, with the sense of freedom and agency that comes from building a log cabin or making a painting.
