Craft Beer Rising took Brick Lane by storm this weekend and what better place for it to be held
than where the biggest brewery in London once lay.

The festival is the first of its kind, celebrating the rise of craft beers and the new breed of young
and adventurous beer drinkers. Beer lovers and experts alike were brought together giving upcoming
brewers the opportunity to meet potential traders as well as fans.

Craft Beer Rising is all about the beer, so it's important that the number one priority was just that.
Each brewery had an equal amount of space to pitch their unique brews and provide tasters to the
bustling crowd.

With 40 of the best craft breweries present from the UK and beyond; a huge variety of both weird
and wonderful was on offer. Wells & Youngs brewery combined their Double Chocolate stout with
their Banana Bread beer to create an amazing 'Banana Split'!

Not to mention Signature Brew who team up with artists (Professor Green and Enter Shikari just to name a few…) to create bespoke beers to their tastes. For those who preferred something lighter Thistly Cross Cider had an array of fresh ciders on tap plus their take on the infamous cider and beer combo, Snakebite.

All traditional beer drinking stereotypes were set aside and experimenting was highly recommended.
Cocktail maestro Ryan Chetiyawardana AKA Mr. Lyan held a beer mixology class using a selection of
the beers on offer. Three amazing concoctions were shaken up in front of an intimate audience.

One of them being the Rum Porter Flip, a pleasantly surprising creamy beer cocktail consisting of Black
Beauty IPA, Havana Club, Raspberry syrup and an egg (yes you read right, an egg.) But Mr. Lyan wasn't
the only beer savvy sharing their knowledge. Alex Barlow of ALL BEER explained everything there is to
know about beer and the woman who aims to take the Beard out of Beer, Melissa Cole gave the low down
of perfect foods to accompany your beverage.

To add to the festival atmosphere there was an impressive line-up of DJ's including the world renowned
Norman Jay MBE's Good Times set, BBC 6 Radio's very own Pete Paphides plus many more.

And if all the beer got a tiny bit too much for anyone an amazing selection of food vendors from
Brockley Market were on site providing punters with the best street food around.

All this teamed with the flowing ales, lagers and stouts made Craft Beer Rising a refreshing experience
and something we're sure to see more of in the future.
