Omnivore is coming back to Truman to showcase contemporary gastronomy; showing us once again that London is seen as the "6th largest French city" and it knows how to appeal to the "Frenchies". Last year, Grégory Marchand and Pierre Sang Boyer fondly rediscovered the ambiance of the city where they began their career. And Alexandre Gauthier, perfectly bilingual in Frenglish, was bubbling with enthusiasm when sharing his seven dishes in 40 minutes for his demo at the event.
Omnivore focuses on connecting us all through food, sharing the cuisines, techniques, and merging cultures to create change and innovation within the food industry. There’s the elective affinity that connects these French chefs beyond the Channel. ‘We (the public and the chefs) share the same culinary sensitivity’, explains Marchand. This year's edition will be hosted right next to the multi-coloured booths and stalls of the Sunday UpMarket, a London emblem for worldwide cuisine.
Seeing London as a major capital for gastronomy, chefs at the Omnivore World Tour cooked with British ingredients, doing demonstrations with Scottish langoustines, and working wonders with something as simple as a plain mackerel. Nathan O'Neil even presented cocktails prepared using recycled food. This year's World Tour will have chefs from all over, including Nuno Mendes, head of the Chiltern Firehouse and Taberna do Mercado and many other inspiring chefs.
Catch video game inspired stall CherrySlug in Backyard Market on Saturdays and Sundays. Originally selling only paintings and small ornaments Chris started creating consumable products that would fit his gaming and anime passions. This is where the bath bob'om was born. After a lot of experimenting he was able to grow their current bath and homeware range. Have a little insight to his business here...
Which product are you most proud of, and why? Our mini 'Bomb bags' filled with seven little hand decorated bath bombs have been really well received. Its a great way of reducing waste as they are only around 15 grams each. They are also well suited to younger customers as a normal sized bath bomb can often be a little intense.
What’s the weirdest thing a customer has said to you? I can’t recall anything specific but I will generally be asked ‘Do I light it? Is it a candle? Do I throw it on the floor? Do I drink it? I want to drink it!" at least 20 times a day.
Can you give some advice to someone starting their own business? Choose something you really enjoy doing and do that to the very best standard you can, people recognise effort which equates to value. Prepare to slog it out before finding your feet, and don’t quit your day job unless its truly awful.
ARTBLOCK
6th - 10th October
When you think of art, do you think of a fully encompassing experience? or simply a visual one? Moniker Art Fair exceeded expectations this year with live art demonstrations, interactive pieces, a new Art Fair app (to learn about the artists) and a Virtual Reality experience called "Virtual Awakening". Running along side The Other Art Fair, the fairs presented a full schedule of talks, workshops and other activities such as Not Another Bill's "The Artful Postcard" and Primo's "Cubetto Children's Coding".
For something a little less conventional Cultural Traffic took over Juju's Bar and Stage on both Friday and Saturday. Toby Mott, organizer, and formerly a founding member of disruptive artist collective the Grey Organisation, called it "not just an arts fair for paper but a celebration of ideas and expression... paving the way for exposure and engagement in radical print now.”
Street artist Luiz Menezes spray painted new work in front of the crowds in Ely's Yard for Crossroads Art Show, showing us there's always something new happening in Latin-American and European art. Punk on Paper gave us serious nostalgia with huge posters covered in Union Jacks. Both Attia Rashid and bop contemporary pushed the boundaries of conventional painting and photography in this year's ARTBLOCK.

It keeps the audience engaged and constantly looking around. We definitely got lucky with our sporting moments.”
Launching with Anthony Joshua: Becoming a Champion, Simon (a socio-political film about a young disabled man in the prime of his life)andSky Sports: Closer; a VR film starringDavid Beckham, and much more content.
