TRUMAN MARKETS: SALES AND DEVELOPMENT


WINTER 2019

The Old Truman Brewery is looking to recruit a new member to our markets’ Sales team. The successful candidate will work towards generating new business, assist in the on-boarding of clients and develop new event led platforms and revenue streams for our vibrant and eclectic weekend markets.

We are looking for people with the following interests:
FOOD & DRINK

Duties include:
• Pro-actively seeking new business
• Fielding enquiries from prospective clients
• Working on developing new food based trading platforms
• Researching and cataloguing evolving trends and subcultures
• Shadowing (initially) our existing sales/admin/operations staff to garner a greater understanding of the site and how our markets are run
• Assisting where necessary in all aspects of the running of our markets

Experience:
• This is an entry level position

Applicant is required to have:
• Interest in sales and new business development
• Excellent telephone manner + communication skills
• Assertive, confident, courteous and a personable character is vital
• Capacity to work effectively both within a team and independently
• Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel and Word
• Bright, friendly, self-starter with excellent numeracy and attention to detail

This role is full-time (min 45 hours): Monday to Friday (Sat and/or Sun a minimum of once a month with days off during the week in lieu) with a 3 month trial period.

RECEPTIONIST / FRONT OF HOUSE


The Truman Brewery is looking to recruit smart and polite receptionists to join our Front of House Team. The successful candidates will work with the team to provide reception duties and general support. This is a great opportunity to join a young, growing and vibrant team.



DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO -
• Deliver the professional greeting of clients and visitors to the highest standard by maintaining a welcoming and friendly atmosphere (making drinks for waiting clients where appropriate)
• Maintaining a high standard of tidiness in the office by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
• Liaising with each team to ensure full and proactive business support is provided
• Assess any FOH procedures, with a view to revise and constantly improve.
• Answering, routing and logging incoming calls
• Resolving any queries by assessing enquiries and routing to relevant team and/or person (ops, sales, markets, social and estates)
• Taking event enquiries, managing inboxes and screening emails
• Collecting and routing mail
• General ad-hoc duties


SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED -
• Presentable, friendly and outgoing character
• Proficient computer skills including knowledge of the Microsoft Suite programmes
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to demonstrate personal drive and commitment to work


WORKING HOURS -
Monday to Friday 9am-6pm & Weekends. Weekend coverage required: 3 weekend days a month with 1 day off Mon-Fri and 1 full weekend a month off.

VENUE SALES + NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

THE TRUMAN BREWERY VENUE SALES TEAM

 

The Truman Brewery, East London’s landmark destination, is looking to recruit new and energetic staff to join our busy Venue Sales Team. This is a great opportunity to join a young, growing and vibrant team; as well as an opportunity to become part of The Truman Brewery family.

 

Duties include:
*Effectively sell The Truman Brewery’s event venues and services to maximise venue sales turnover
*Reactive Sales – dealing with incoming enquiries from new and pre-existing clients to convert into bookings.
*Pro-active sales – effectively canvass and networking for new business
*Develop and manage strong working relationships with clients through great service and actively follow-up renegotiations.
*Database and venue diary management to ensure optimum profitability.
*Meeting clients; conducting site visits and interpreting event requirements.
*Develop excellent knowledge of the different venues, the type of events best suited and operational procedures involved in running multiple events in multiple venues across a busy Estate.
*Flexibility to assist as necessary in all aspects of the day to day running of the department, our events and the wider company.
*Occasional early get-ins for events + acting as onsite venue representative during out of office hour events.

 

Applicant is required to have:
*Bright, friendly and personable character is vital to the role
*A keen interest and clear idea of the UK events market, event organisers, agencies and venue competitors.
*Great interpersonal and communication skills and the confidence to interact politely and effectively with all types of clients
*Self-motivated, hardworking, focused and determined in your approach to work
*Excellent written communication skills for a variety of purposes including the preparation of reports, marketing material, and client correspondence. 
*Excellent verbal communication skills in order to deliver persuasive and effective venue tours, networking, negotiations, internal communications and relationship management 
*Good computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel and Word.

 

Experience:
This is an entry level opportunity. Experience in similar sales roles is of benefit, but not essential.

This role is full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm with a 6 month trial period.
Please note this is not an event coordinating or management role, as The Truman Brewery is a dry hire venue.

EVENTS OPERATIONS (FULL TIME)


EVENTS DEPARTMENT

DUTIES INCLUDE:
  • Frequent communication with suppliers and clients
  • Collating specific documents (e.g contracts, risk assessments, event floor plans, event schedules etc.) and general administration work for each event
  • Integrating with our different size teams (events, estates, maintenance, accounts, car parking attendants) to ensure a smooth transistion from sale to post event
  • Initially shadowing and eventually taking part in and organising both venue - client viewings and operations
  • Signing on and signing off venue
  • Venue upkeep
  • Inform car parks, main reception and staff of upcoming events
  • Develop a strong working relationship with clients through great service and follow-up
  • Develop a good working knowledge of the event spaces and the type of events in the spaces
  • Develop understanding of health and safety aspects of events
  • Checking work done by cleaning/maintenance staff
  • Booking in staff when needed
  • Weekend coverage as and when needed
There may be other responsibilities that we hand over to you as and when appropriate, depending on your skills and personal development.


SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Must have at least 1 year's experience in event operations and logistics
  • Excellent and efficient organisational skills, attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Excel, Power Point and Word
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the confidence to liaise with clients and suppliers
  • Hardworking, focused and determined in your approach to work
  • Bright, friendly and personable character is vital to the role with a keen interest in the events industry
  • Excellent telephone manner

HOLIDAY:

We offer 28 days holiday paid (8 of which are bank holiday). The remaining should be used 5 days per quarter unless agreed in advance. This starts after your first 3 months of employment.


GENERAL WORKING HOURS:

Monday to Friday 9am-6pm and be flexible to work weekends and evenings when required.
Generally weekends worked would be in lieu of weekdays.

You will be contracted to worked 45 hours a week, 9 hours per day with a 6 month probationary period.

BAR TENDERS & WAITING STAFF WANTED


The Old Truman Brewery is looking to recruit new bar tenders and waiting staff for our various venues onsite including Juju’s bar and stage, Ninety One, 93 Feet East and in-house productions such as Vegan Nights and Free Range.

Duties of the role:

• Preparing and providing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
• Interacting with customers, fielding questions and making recommendations
• Providing our clients with the best possible experience

SIA Door Supervisors


TRUSEC is looking for female or male security supervisors to join our team. All shifts are a minimum of 6 hours, some late night/overnight shifts. Successful candidates will be required to work throughout the year including weekends and bank holidays. You will be working across multiple sites, primarily Old Billingsgate and The Old Truman Brewery (additional opportunities for nightclub work available in Brick Lane area - please state if you have previous club experience when you apply).

DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Scheduled lock up and unlock for clients
- Intruder or Fire alarm response
- Patrolling of sites to deter any possible criminal activity, visible security presence
- Assisting and directing members of the public

SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must have previous security experience
- Fluent in written and verbal communication in English
- Calm under pressure or in emergency situations
- Physically fit, able to work independently
